Event Description
AAFAME has a quick turn around project where we need volunteers next Thursday, Friday and/or Saturday to help build a ramp for the Texas Ramp Project. See details below for time & location.

BACKGROUND:
Texas Ramp Project (TRP) received a referral from the ALS Association of Texas for a client who was recently diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) at age 56. He and his wife were both truck drivers before the diagnosis but had to sell their truck when his condition started deteriorating. The social worker who submitted the referral said the couple is living in a trailer owned by a relative and they are struggling with medical bills, in addition to the fatal diagnosis.

HELP NEEDED
THURSDAY 2/20: 2 volunteers to help build modules in the TRP warehouse (Burnet Road Business Park) from 2:00 -4:00 pm
FRIDAY 2/21:  2 volunteers to help load at the TRP warehouse (Burnet Road Business Park) from 2:00 – 3:00 pm
SATURDAY 2/22:  10 volunteers for the build from 8:00 am – about 2:00 pm

WHAT TO BRING
TRP has all of the tools, lumber and equipment needed for the project. Some volunteers like to bring their own drills, gloves, tool belts and safety glasses, but it’s not required. They will have Ryobi drills for everyone and some extra safety glasses and gloves. Volunteers don’t need to bring anything for the module building and loading at the warehouse; Texas Ramp Project leaders will be on-hand to provide direction at all times.

WEATHER
We can’t build in the rain, so if it looks like the weather isn’t going to cooperate, we’ll make the build/no build decision by 10am Friday 2/21.
