From television shows about medical examiners, most people are familiar with the term “post-mortem” for an autopsy. This presentation will focus on building “pre-mortems” – looking at construction management practices that could have prevented the building failures illustrated. Attendees will learn the relationship of construction management to later problems with walls, windows, roofs, and structural systems, including water infiltration, cracks, movement, and sometimes hazards.
