Discover how infrared thermography can help facility & building maintenance professionals identify potential problems before they become costly failures. L.O.A. Roofing and Thermal Vision will demonstrate how drone-based thermal scans can detect patterns consistent with trapped roof moisture, support leak investigations, and guide maintenance and capital planning. Join us in building accessibility for those in need! We’re looking for dedicated volunteers to help construct a ramp that will improve mobility and independence for a community member. Whether you can assist for a few hours or the entire day, your support is invaluable.

Modular Build –

3 volunteers needed to pre-assemble sections of the ramp

Materials Loading –

3 volunteers needed to assist with organizing and loading materials

Ramp Build –

Morning Shift (8:00 AM – 12:00 PM): 6 volunteers needed
Afternoon Shift (12:00 PM – 5:00 PM): 8 volunteers needed
Stay All Day? Even better! Sign up for both morning & afternoon shifts
Breakfast, Lunch & water provided
Must sign waiver to work onsite

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT VOLUNTEER SHIFTS ARE FULL FOR THIS EVENT!

AAFAME will be assisting with the parade staging & distribution of refreshments.

We meet on the south side of the Congress bridge near the Bat Statue for assignments and briefing at 6:00 am. Parking information will be shared closer to the event.

Our job is to help approx 2,000 people and 200 vehicles safely in their marching order. The Parade Chairman will give us a formation list and we will greet people and guide them to their proper position.

Austin Veterans Parade Steps Off
The main parade begins at the Congress Avenue Bridge and proceeds north along Congress Avenue toward the Texas Capitol.

10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Veterans Resource Event Opens
Veterans, service members, families, and community members can begin visiting participating organizations and resource providers in the Capitol area. The resource event can operate while the parade is finishing.

Build on your networking basics with a practical look at how modern building systems communicate. Learn about switches, VLANs, routing, communication protocols, IT/OT/IoT, and troubleshooting common connectivity issues in systems such as HVAC, security, lighting, and metering.

Attendees will learn how to:

Understand the difference between Layer 2 switching and Layer 3 routing
Recognize common building communication protocols and technologies
Understand how IT, OT, and IoT systems overlap
Identify networks, VLANs, protocols, and responsible parties for building systems
Troubleshoot connectivity issues from the physical device through the network and application

PRESENTER:

James “Kimo” Percy | Chief Building Engineer, Stream Realty Partners
Born and raised in California (Bay Area), James enlisted in the Navy where he served as an aircrewman and jet engine mechanic on MH-53E helicopters and C-20 (Gulfstream III) aircraft. Upon separating from the Navy in late 1998, James requested to be relocated to Austin with the hopes of attending the University of Texas. However, the cost of tuition and living forced him into the workplace where he started his civilian career where his military career ended: aircraft maintenance. After his wife got a job in commercial real estate (working for Equity Office), James decided to make the transition to, “fixing things that don’t fly.” He started working for Trammell Crow Company in 2002, transitioned to downtown office buildings in 2005, finally landing (I thought buildings did not fly) at his current property, RiverSouth, in 2022. Throughout his life, James has always enjoyed working with technology from personal computers to home automation. However, this work has never been anything more than an expensive hobby.
